To Neuter or Not to Neuter, That is The Question!

We apologize for the poorly used reference, but this is truly one of the most common questions we are asked by new pet owners; and it is probably one of the easiest for us to answer!  We ALWAYS recommend that our clients spay and neuter their pets between 6-8 months of age for several reasons.  The first and most important of which is the general benefit to the health of your pet.  Neutering your pet greatly decreases the chances of prostate, testicular and mammary cancers.  It will also prevent your pets from unwanted pregnancies or from impregnating other pets accidentally, which is extremely important considering the current state of unwanted pets in this country.  There is no need to increase the amount of unwanted or stray animals.  Thirdly, many of our clients are concerned about behavioral changes they might expect with neutering their pets.  There is little or no behavioral changes to expect with neutering, and those that do occur are mostly BENEFICIAL to both the owner and the pet.  For a complete breakdown of why we believe neutering is necessary, as well as what to expect when you neuter your pet please read the articles below, or ask your veterinarian when you bring your pet for their next visit.
