Feline Vaccine Protocols

Kittens & Cats

FVRCP (feline viral rhinoracheitis, calcivirus, pasnleukopenia) - Kittens receive this distemper booster every 3 - 4 weeks until they are 3 months old.  They require a minimum of two.  The vaccine is repeated one year later, and then every 3 years thereafter.

RABIES - First given after 3 months of age and then boostered one year later.  The vaccine is valid for 3 years once the kitten/cat has been vaccinated for 1 year.

FeLV - Given primarily to cats allowed outdoors or cats in group housing/community environments, as this disease is transmitted primarily by bite and scratch wounds.  The vaccine is given in a series of two vaccines, 3-4 weeks apart, and is boostered yearly thereafter.
